Forest native Tyler McGregor has won an Athletes in Excellence Award from the Foundation for Global Sports Development based in Los Angeles.

The award recognizes those athletes who have taken their talents beyond their sport and into communities of need.

The Sled Hockey Paralympian medallist was one of ten winners and will receive $10-thousand from the Foundation.

McGregor volunteers with Classroom Champions to mentor youths, Childcan to raise money for families facing childhood cancer, and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Make-A-Wish Foundation to support youths with cancer.

He won silver and bronze medals at the 2018 and 2014 Paralympic Games.
