Wallaceburg Water Decision Looming

Wallaceburg residents will get a strong hint today as to whether their drinking water will come from the Snye River or Lake Erie in the future.

An evaluation committee will present its report to the Chatham-Kent PUC this afternoon and then to the public at a meeting tonight.

Wallaceburg-area councillor Carmen McGregor is one of the members on the committee.

“There has been a lot of community interest along the way,” says McGregor, “It’s a perfect time for everyone to be able to come out and hear those recommendations and then have any further questions answered before the decision is made.”

Tonight’s public meeting runs from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the UAW Hall in Wallaceburg.

An official decision on where Wallaceburg’s drinking water will be sourced from will likely be made at a meeting on March 2.
