Bluewater Extends Community Improvement Plan Across the Municipality

The municipality of Bluewater is expanding its Community Improvement Plan to the entire municipality.

Economic Development Officer Mark Cassidy explains in the past five years the municipality has put about 120-thousand dollars into the Community Improvement Plan in Hensall and in that time is has leveraged about five times that amount in private sector investment.

Cassidy adds in Hensall most of that money was used on facade improvements which have revitalized the main street. Cassidy points out the focus of the plan was the downtown area but that can change depending on the needs of the community.

Bluewater has decided to expand the plan and the hope is within the next year to have a Community Improvement Plan in place in each of the three villages and the six hamlets in Bluewater. Cassidy the specific projects will vary from community to community

Cassidy says administration of plan will fall under one umbrella but each community will decide how they want to use the seed money.
