Increased Voter Turnout At Advance Polls
Voter turnout at advance polling stations across London is up 40% compared to the 2010 election.
So far, 6.2% of eligible voters in London have cast their ballot. In the last municipal election only 4.39% voted at advance polls.
While city officials say it is hard to predict what the percentage of voter turnout may look like overall, there are a few things that have been done differently this year to increase rates.
“It could be that people are interested in the various races, but we did have additional advance polls this go-around so that may have assisted,” says City Clerk Cathy Saunders. “We were also out with more communication about the election.”
In 2010, London saw 39.9% of eligible voters cast a ballot.
