As the storm clean up continues in Grand Bend, municipal leaders are encouraging travellers to visit the Lake Huron resort community this long holiday weekend.

Environment Canada confirmed late Monday afternoon that it was in fact an EF1 tornado that uprooted dozens of trees and downed power lines.

Lambton Shores Deputy Mayor Elizabeth Davis-Dagg says several business were impacted by the Sunday evening tornado and subsequent power outage.

Davis-Dagg says despite the damage in the area, the town is open for business.

Lambton Shores Council meets August 7 to consider asking for provincial funding to help with the cleanup.

An estimate of the damage caused by the storm is not yet available .

Meantime, progress is being made to restore electricity. Hydro One is reporting 388 residents without power at 2pm. Down from 700 over the noon hour Tuesday.
