Driver in Fatal Accident Outside Cargill Was A Local Hockey Coach

The driver in the fatal collision Sunday on Bruce County Rd 3 was a local hockey coach with Stratford and Huron-Perth teams.

Byron Leader was pronounced dead at the scene  just outside of Cargill when his SUV collided with a pickup truck that police say failed to stop at a stop sign.

He played minor hockey in Stratford and after a car accident ended his competitive career he spent over 10 years coaching.

In 2012 he was named the head coach of the Huron Perth Lakers major midget AAA team after years as coach in Stratford.

Leader was thirty-years-old.
