Sting bombard Attack in 6-1 win

The Sarnia Sting cruised to a 6-1 win in Owen Sound Tuesday night to extend their point streak to 16 games.

Ty Voit scored twice in the victory and became the second OHLer to crack 100 points on the season, Sandis Vilmanis also added a pair of goals, and goaltender Nicholas Surzycia turned away 28 shots for his 16th win of the campaign.

Vilmanis opened the scoring at 1:34 of the first period after Cooper Way intercepted a pass deep in the Attack's end of the ice. Voit made it 2-0 at 5:13 after Owen Sound failed to clear the puck past Luca Del Bel Belluz.

The home-side got on the board at 14:29 on Deni Goure's 30th goal of the season, but Marko Sikic responded just over 30 seconds later to give the Sting a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Sarnia kept coming in the second period when Brenden Anderson made it 4-1 at 1:38 -- Anderson has five goals on the year and has now scored in three straight games. With just under 30 seconds to play in the middle frame, Vilmanis potted his second goal, and 19th of the season, on a feed from Anderson to make it 5-1 heading into the third period.

The Sting outshot the Attack 17-8 over the final 20 minutes of play, and 41-29 overall. Voit scored the lone goal of the period at 6:52 to seal the 6-1 win.

Voit is second in league scoring with 101 points this season, trailing Windsor's Matthew Maggio by six points for the league lead.

Sarnia's long point streak dates back to February 15, a 9-1 win over the visiting Guelph Storm. The Sting will look to keep on rolling when they host the Attack Friday night -- coverage on CHOK (103.9 FM/1070 AM) begins at 6:30 p.m.
