Sting drop three-goal lead in shootout loss to Generals

The Sarnia Sting lost another game Friday night, falling to the visiting Oshawa Generals 6-5 in a shootout.

Leading by three goals late in the second period, the Sting were poised to end their two-game losing streak.

However, they watched the Generals rally for a win at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

"That was a tough game to lose, especially going up 4-1 to a bottom team in the league," said Nolan Dillingham. "It sucks to drop a point to a team like that, I do think we battled hard."

The Sting (12-8-3-2) remain sixth in the Western Conference in points and winning percentage. The Generals (7-13-1-2) are now tied for second-worst in the OHL.

The Sting were coming off a 10-0 loss in Flint against the Firebirds last Saturday.

“It almost feels like we need to play a perfect game right now,” said Dillingham. “Teams are capitalizing on a lot of chances that we’re giving them.”

Ty Voit potted the tying goal at 11:22 of the third period to end his 15-game goalless drought.

“After especially today, everyone’s hungry,” said Ty Voit. “It’s definitely not going to be an outcome like this. We’re not going to accept that for this weekend. We need these four points.”

The Sting visit Saginaw Saturday to take on the Spirit, before hosting Barrie on Sunday.

You can catch both games live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
