Undermanned Sting skate past Steelheads 6-2

The shorthanded Sarnia Sting (12-6-4) picked up two points with a 6-2 win over Mississauga (11-6-3) Wednesday night.

Marcus Limpar-Lantz scored the first goal of the night, just over five minutes into the first period.

Not too long after, Tyson Doucette picked up the loose puck on a deflection off of a Steelheads defender, firing it in the back of the net for their second goal of the game. Limpar-Lantz picked up his second goal making it 3-0, 8:58 into the period.

The Steelheads would go on to score their only two goals in the first period.

After a high-scoring first period, neither team would hit the back of the net in the second frame.

Sasha Pastujov scored two goals for the Sting in the third period, along with a goal from Lukas Fischer making it 6-2.

Sting Goalie Ben Gaudreau made 26 saves in the win. He said they're looking to build off their last two wins moving forward.

"I think it starts off in practice," said Gaudreau. "We've gone out hard start of practice to make sure that we're dialed in right at the start and our warmups have been good. In the room, morale has been unreal. It's been really exciting to get going. I think that helped us get in and get settled."

The Sarnia Sting are home to Saginaw on Friday night, before travelling to Flint on Saturday to take on the Firebirds. You can catch both games live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
