The Sarnia Sting defeated the Windsor Spitfires with a 3-2 win on Friday during a home game at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Porter Martone opened the scoring in the first period with his first OHL goal.

“It was definitely a good pass by Cooper (Way),” said Martone. “I just put it on my tape and I shot that shot about a thousand times and I put it in the back of the net. I’m just glad it went in.”

Sasha Pastujov made his Sting debut after being acquired Thursday from the Guelph Storm for Max Namestnikov and four draft picks.

Pastujov scored 38 seconds into the second period off a two-on-one pass from Marko Sikic for a 2-0 lead.

“It felt good,” said Pastujov. “I played with Marko before and we had pretty good chemistry over in Guelph. I knew he was going to slide that over and I was ready for it. Luckily it went in.”

Cooper Way scored the eventual winner for a 3-1 lead in the third period and Ben Gaudreau made 21 saves.

The Sting travel to Barrie Saturday to play the Colts. Pregame on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM) starts at 7:00 p.m. Puck drop is at  7:30 p.m.
