Alliance showcase highlights top OHL prospects

Sarnia will welcome some of the top 2023 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) draft prospects to the city this weekend for the Alliance Hockey U16 AAA Face Off.

Twelve teams will compete in a 24 game league schedule, November 18 to 20 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Alliance Executive Director Tony Martindale said there's no admission fee, and fans will be treated to some high quality hockey.

He expects to see some scouts in attendance.

"I would think every team in the OHL will be represented, along with the GOJHL," said Martindale. "Sometimes at these events we even have two or three scouts for various OHL teams. It will be well-attended for sure."

Martindale said there's some top talent coming to town.

"We have anywhere from 40 to 50 kids drafted each year into the OHL from this league," he said. "Fans will see some really highly skilled hockey. It doesn't matter what game they go to, there's lots of parity in the league. Everybody has to show up to a game where there's a good chance that even the top teams get beat."

Joining the Lambton Jr. Sting will be teams from Chatham-Kent, Windsor, London, Kitchener, Cambridge, Elgin-Middlesex, Hamilton, Waterloo, Huron-Perth, Brantford, and Sun County.
