Sting lose to the Firebirds in Flint

Following a 6-0 loss to the Firebirds on home ice Friday night the Sarnia Sting lost 8-3 in Flint Saturday night.

The Firebirds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period on goals from Ethan Hay and Gavin Hayes before Alexis Daviault (3) scored for the Sting assisted by Max Namestnikov.

Ryan Mast (7) would tie the game 32 seconds into the second period with assists going to Ty Voit and Nolan Dann.

Midway through the period the Firebirds would retake the lead on a goal from Riley Piercey.

The Sting's Namestnikov would tie the game on the power play at three, four minutes into the third period assisted by Chandler Romeo and Josh Vogelsburg.

Then Flint would explode with five goals from Piercey, Gavin Hayes, Piercey, Simon Slavicek and Brennan Othmann.

Anson Thornton made 27 saves for Sarnia while Luke Cavalin stopped 28 Sting shots.

The Sting visit the Windsor Spitfires Sunday at 4:05 p.m. The pregame show starts at 3:30 p.m. on CHOK (103.9 FM/1070 AM).
