Legionnaires defang Vipers with 6-4 win (GALLERY)

The Sarnia Legionnaires got off to a hot start versus LaSalle Thursday night, on route to a 6-4 win on home-ice.

Sarnia scored a pair of goals in the first three minutes of play and went into the first intermission up 3-1.

The teams traded goals in the second period before the Vipers made in 4-3 when Gabe Barrette scored with just a second on the clock.

The Legionnaires answered with two goals just over a minute into the third period, which secured the victory.

"We responded in the third," said Legionnaires Head Coach Derek DiMuzio.  "We had a really good start in the first and we were playing our game, and then in the second, LaSalle beat us to loose pucks and we had to regroup between the second and the third."

Sarnia forward Austin Harper had four assists, while Jett Morningstar, Brayden Krueger and Ryan Richardson each finished with a goal and an assist.  Goaltender Nolan DeKoning made 35 saves.

"He's great," said DiMuzio of DeKoning.  "He made some really, really nice saves and helped hold the fort down in that third period there."

The win improves Sarnia's record to 5-13-0-0 on the season.  The club is back in action Saturday night in Strathroy.
