Sarnia’s Mike Weir had his best result so far on the PGA Tour Champions over the weekend.

The Bright’s Grove lefty finished in a tie for fourth with Retief Goosen at the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach.

Weir carded rounds of 73, 65 and 69 for a 207 total, just three strokes back of eventual winner Jim Furyk who beat Jerry Kelly on the first hole of a playoff.

He earned almost $118,000 for his effort.

Since joining the Champions Tour in late July Weir has played in six events, has two top ten finishes, and is 28th on the money list with winnings of nearly $275,000.

The next tour stop is the SAS Championship in Cary, North Carolina October 9 – 11.
