Sting's Gaudreau invited to Hockey Canada virtual goalie camp

The Sarnia Sting's Ben Gaudreau is one of 23 goalies invited to take part in Hockey Canada's virtual four-day Program of Excellence goaltending camp.

Typically serving as the initial evaluation stage for summer development and selection camps for Canada’s national men’s teams, the online camp will focus on goaltender development and evaluation through online education.

The goalies will be joined by 11 elite-level instructors over four days.

Senior Vice-President of National Teams for Hockey Canada Scott Salmond said the program includes sessions on mental and physical performance, planning for short-term competition, environments for success, embracing the role of a back-up goaltender and more.

"The Program of Excellence goaltending camp is a great opportunity to bring together the top young goaltenders in the country and assist with the development process for these athletes," he said. "Despite the unique nature of this year’s camp and the switch to an online delivery for our programs, we believe all 23 goalies will benefit from world-class instruction as we continue to prepare for a new season."

Other OHL goalies taking part in the online camp include London's Brett Brochu, Tristan Lennox of Saginaw, and Matteo Drobac of the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Erie 2020 draft pick Nolan Lalonde, and Kitchener selection Jackson Parsons are also in the mix.

The online program runs from June 9-12.
