Former Legionnaire captures ECHL MVP

Former Sarnia Legionnaires sniper Josh Kestner recently captured the ECHL's most valuable player award after a tremendous season.

The Huntsville, Alabama native scored a league best 33 goals and 73 points in 58 games with the Toledo Walleye.

He also suited up for the Western Conference in the league's All-Star Classic.

Kestner had a very successful GOJHL career with the Legionnaires from 2012-2014. In two seasons, he scored 59 goals and 113 points over 91 games.

He also played four seasons at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Kestner had a brief stint with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, scoring once in four games.

He spent last season with the ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers where he had 22 goals and 49 points in 61 contests.

The rest of this year's ECHL season has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
