Sting shutout in Owen Sound 5-0

The Sarnia Sting (16-25-4-0) were shutout 5-0 in Owen Sound (21-17-3-3) in OHL action on Wednesday night.

The loss marks their 13th defeat in their past 14 contests.

Brady Lyle led the way for the Attack with a goal and two assists.

Aidan Dudas, Sergey Popov, Matthew Philip, and Barret Kirwin also lit the lamp while Matthew Struthers had three assists.

Kelton Hatcher and Carter Robinson got into a spirited fight midway through the third period after Hatcher laid out Dudas with a clean check.

Sting goalie Ben Gaudreau turned aside 33 of 38 shots, and Mack Guzda made 30 saves for the shutout.

The Sting sit last place in the Western Conference with 36 points. They're 10 points behind Erie for the eighth and final playoff spot.

Sarnia is back in action on Friday night in Kitchener before hosting Windsor on Sunday afternoon.
