Strong third period powers Rockets to win in Sarnia

The Sarnia Legionnaires (9-14-1-2) gave up four goals within 3:50 in the third period, as they lost 6-4 to the Strathroy Rockets (11-14-2-2) in GOJHL hockey action Thursday.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period and 2-2 after two.

The Legionnaires pulled ahead 3-2 about nine minutes into the third before the Rockets stormed back with four quick goals. Sarnia scored late to make the final 6-4.

Josh Barraclough scored twice for the Legionnaires, while Nolan DeGurse scored and added two assists.

Matthew Cunningham scored Sarnia's other tally. Jon Sanderson had two helpers in his first game of the season. He missed the first 25 games dealing with a knee injury.

Sarnia goalie Nolan DeKoning made 24 saves on 30 shots, Joshua Diamond turned aside 28 of 32 shots in the Rockets net.

The Legionnaires are seventh place in the Western Conference with 21 points, three up on St. Thomas and Komoka.

The Legionnaires are in London on Wednesday before hosting St. Marys Thursday on CHOK.
