Schoch scores in final minute to power Legionnaires win

The Sarnia Legionnaires (3-6-0-1) defeated the LaSalle Vipers (5-4-1-2) 3-2 in GOJHL hockey action on Wednesday night in LaSalle.

Wil O'Leary-Dilosa opened the scoring for the Legionnaires with a powerplay goal 11:04 into the first period.

Sarnia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second period on rookie Jett Morningstar's first career GOJHL goal.

LaSalle stormed back with a pair of third period goals to tie the game, but Legionnaires captain Ben Schoch sealed the win with a powerplay goal with just 31 seconds left on the clock.

Schoch also picked up an assist, and now has a team-leading 14 points in 10 contests.

Legionnaires goalie Nolan DeKoning made 36 saves on 38 shots, while Matt Tovell turned aside 28 shots in the LaSalle net.

Sarnia is still last place in the Western Conference with seven points, one back of St. Thomas and Komoka.

The Legionnaires are back in action on Thursday night at home to the London Nationals.
