The Sarnia Bluewater Wrestling Club needs your help after falling victim to theft over the weekend.

Head Coach John Burke said a number of door prizes the club was set to raffle off at their annual golf fundraiser Saturday were stolen from his garage.

Burke said they’ve been hosting the Sarnia Wrestling Club Golf Tournament at Huron Oaks for the past decade.

“It’s our largest fundraiser of the year. We usually raise about $7,000 and that is really what floats our program and it helps us stay viable. We use that money to run a youth wrestling program — we have athletes in our program from five years old up to 18 — so we use the money to offset a lot of the expenses of kids training and competing ,” said Burke. “So we pay for some kids’ registration, provide uniforms in terms of shoes and wrestling singlets, we pay for entry fees and travelling expenses for kids to travel locally, nationally and internationally.”

Burke said the club is now reaching out to the community for door prize and monetary donations — he said the value of the stolen prizes was roughly $600.
