Legionnaires' roster taking shape for GOJHL season

The Sarnia Legionnaires' roster continues to take shape for the upcoming Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League season.

The team has announced the signings of Reed Stauffer, Brayden Krueger, Will O'Leary-Dilosa, and Bradley Slegers.

Stauffer, a 17-year-old two-way defenceman from Saugeen Shores, spent last season with the Grey Bruce Highlanders Midget AAA squad.

He dished out two assists in 23 games and was held pointless in five games with the Legionnaires.

Krueger is a 17-year-old right-winger from Owen Sound. He also suited up for Grey Bruce last season, putting up four goals and seven helpers in 29 games. He also had two points in seven games with the Walkerton Hawks of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

Bright's Grove's O'Leary-Dilosa, also 17, split time between the Lambton Junior Sting Midget AAA program, and the Petrolia Flyers of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

He had 12 goals and 16 points in 37 combined games and had an assist in his only game with the Legionnaires.

Slegers, a 16-year-old Strathroy-born defenceman, had five goals and five assists in 34 games with the Lambton Junior Sting Midget AAA team.

He was held off the score sheet in two games with the Legionnaires.

The Legionnaires also announced Thursday that veterans Jakob Knowles, Nolan DeKoning, Logan Gardner, Ryan Barwitzki and Cameron Ware will be returning to the team -- the club previously announced that Joey Ferrera, Josh Barraclough, Jake Vince, Ben Schoch and Jon Sanderson will all be rejoining the Legionnaires.

Sarnia's preseason starts on August 26 against Komoka at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. The regular season gets underway next month with the annual league showcase September 7 and 8 in Pelham. The Legionnaires will face Buffalo and Caledonia that weekend. The home opener is September 12 against the Chatham Maroons.

--- On Friday, the club announced the signing of forward Carson Peer.

The 16-year-old Oil City, Ontario native had 10 goals and 14 points in 29 games played last season with the Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Midget AAA team and added three goals and two assists in sever postseason games.

Peer also played seven games with the Legionnaires last season where he scored one goal and added two assists.
