The Sarnia Braves opened up their Ontario Senior Elimination Tournament with a come-from-behind win over the Etobicoke Rangers.
The Braves beat the Rangers 7-4 at Woodslee Orioles Park near Lakeshore Friday.
Sarnia was trailing 4-3 late in the game before putting up four runs in the 6th inning to take the lead. Braves starting pitcher Mike Damchuk closed things out in the 7th and allowed just six hits for the complete-game win.
The Braves received a bye to the 3rd round of the 21-team tournament and will play either the Ilderton Red Army or Windsor Stars Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Cullen Field in Windsor.
The championship game goes Monday.
The winner of the double-knockout tournament will be crowned Ontario Champions and earn a spot at Senior Men’s Nationals in Miramichi, New Brunswick August 22 to 25.
