Perreault named to OHL All-Rookie First Team

Sting forward Jacob Perreault received another accolade for his impressive first season in Sarnia.

Perreault was named to the Ontario Hockey League All-Rookie First Team Wednesday.

The 17-year-old was one of two rookies to hit the 30 goal-mark, and finished fourth in rookie scoring with 55 points.

Perreault also finished fourth in scoring among Sting skaters, and only trailed Hugo Leufvenius for the team-lead in goals.

After being selected 19th overall in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection, Perreault won rookie of the month honours for December, and was selected to Canada’s U-18 training camp-- he wasn't named to the final roster.

Joining Perreault on the all-rookie first team are Sudbury's Quinton Byfield, Saginaw's Cole Perfetti, Erie's Jamie Drysdale, Flint's Vladislav Kolyachonok, and Colt's goaltender Jet Greaves.

Byfield was named the OHL Rookie of the Year after receiving 61 points in the voting process, just one point ahead of Perfetti, while Drysdale finished third with 32 voting points.

Byfield, the first overall pick in 2018, finished third in rookie scoring with 61 points.
