Storm runs from the Sting 4-1

The Guelph Storm pulled away and did not look back in their 4-1 win over the Sarnia Sting at Progressive Auto Sales Arena Saturday night.

The Sting currently hold the sixth position in the OHL Western Conference standings with 53 points.

Jacob Perreault drew first blood for the Sting with a power-play goal at 17:01 in the first period. Sarnia had a slight 8-7 lead over Guelph in shots in the opening frame.

The Storm blew in with three unanswered goals in the second segment. Liam Hawel tied the game up at 6:20, then Nick Suzuki put up the go-ahead goal. Domenico Commisso added an insurance goal for Guelph with 21 ticks left in the period.

Hawel struck again for the lone goal of the third period, on the power play.

Anthony Popovich faced 25 shots in goal for Guelph and stopped 24 of them. Cameron Lamour had 19 saves for the Sting.

With the win, the teams split the weekend home and home series, each winning in the other team's rink. The Sting skated to a convincing 6-2 win in Guelph Friday night.
