Sting trades Calvas for draft picksOctober 9, 2018 9:32pm
The Sarnia Sting has traded overage defenceman Theo Calvas to the North Bay Battalion for a pair of draft picks.
Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair announced Tuesday evening that in return for Calvas, Sarnia will receive a fifth-round selection (North Bay) in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, and a conditional sixth-round pick (Sarnia) in 2022.
“Theo has been a major contributor to our blueline over the past two seasons with our hockey club. He battled hard for our club night in and night out, helping to lead a young group in his time here,” said Sinclair in a statement.
Calvas has played 96 games with the Sting since being traded to Sarina in 2017. The Michigan native has a career total of 150 OHL games played, with 33 points and a plus 20 rating.
“On behalf of the entire Sarnia Sting organization, I want to thank Theo for all of his hard work and dedication to our team and wish him nothing but the best with the Battalion,” said Sinclair.
The Sting will face their former teammate on February 22 when the Battalion take on Sarnia on February 22, 2019.
