Legionnaires Pickup Huge 4-1 Win In St. Thomas

It was the biggest game of the Legionnaires season and one they needed to win to have any chance at home-ice advantage in the playoffs.

Goaltender Will Barber made 35 saves and Joel Pavey scored the winner late in the 2nd to lift Sarnia to the 4-1 win in St. Thomas.

The victory moves the Legionnaires one point ahead of the Stars for fourth in the Western Conference with just one game remaining for each team.

If Sarnia can beat Strathroy on Saturday night or if St. Thomas loses to St. Marys on Sunday, the Legionnaires would lock up home-ice against the Stars in the first round.

The two teams already know they'll be facing each other in opening round, but home-ice could be a big factor in the matchup-- the Stars have lost just nine games on home this season while the Legionnaires have lost only eight times at the 'Brock Street Barn.'

Sarnia and St. Thomas split the regular season series at three games a piece.
