Sting Mauled by Greyhounds 7-1

Rasmus Sandin scored two goals for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in their 7-1 win over the visiting Sarnia Sting.

The Sting lose a little ground in the OHL Western Conference ratings, standing pat at 82 points while the Greyhounds now have 98 points.

Anthony DeMeo scored his first goal of the season, and his first ever OHL goal, just 53 seconds into the game to give the Hounds a 1-0 lead.

Joe Carroll doubled the Sault Ste. Marie lead with a goal at 47 seconds into the second period. Sarnia got on the board 48 seconds later with Anthony Salinitri's 25th goal of the season. Hayden Verbeek and Sandin each put the puck in later in the period to extend the Hounds' second-intermission lead to 4-1.

It was all Sault Ste. Marie in the third period. Taylor Raddysh scored at 8:43. Sandin scored his second of the night later in the frame on the power play and Barrett Hayton put the game away.

Justin Fazio struggled in net for the Sting, stopping just 30 shots out of a possible 37. Matthew Villalta had 27 saves for the Greyhounds.

The Sting host the Saginaw Spirit in an afternoon game on Monday, Family Day.
