Former Sting Captain Gets AHL Try Out

Kevin Spinozzi has signed a professional tryout contract with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

The former Sting captain was invited to Pittsburgh Penguins training camp as a free agent, and impressed enough to earn a try out with their AHL affiliate.

Last year was full of personal bests for Spinozzi, who scored 13 goals, 28 assists and 41 points from the blue line.

Spinozzi played 275 games in the Ontario Hockey League, 212 of which were in a Sarnia Sting uniform.

Sault Ste. Marie selected him in the second round of the 2012 OHL draft, he was traded to Sarnia during the 2013-14 season.

Jeff King was at training camp with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, and will start the season with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL.
