Hunter Promoted to Assistant General Manager

The Toronto Maple Leafs have promoted Mark Hunter to Assistant General Manager.

The Petrolia native first joined the Maple Leafs in October 2014 as Director of Player Personnel.

A team news release says Hunter will continue to handle amateur scouting, player evaluation and oversee the hockey club's professional scouting.

Hunter will share the Assistant GM role with Kyle Dubas, who will continue General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, overseeing all prospects within the club’s system, while also leading the Maple Leafs’ player development and hockey research & development departments.

Before joining the NHL executive ranks, both Dubas and Hunter were General Managers in the Ontario Hockey League.

Hunter played 628 in the NHL with Montreal, St. Louis, Calgary, Hartford and Washington.

Prior to that he suited up for his hometown Petrolia Jets during the 1978-79 season.
