MLB Nick Castellanos and J.D. Martinez homered in a Tigers 7-4 loss to Pittsburgh yesterday at Comerica Park, that series continues this afternoon. The Chicago Cubs won their home opener by beating Cincinnati 5-3 on Addison Russell's three-run blast in the eighth inning. Baltimore improved to 6-0 with a 9-7 win over Boston. Atlanta is 0-6 for the first time since 1988 after Washington's 6-4 win over the Braves. Twins are 0-7 after a loss to the White Sox.

The Blue Jays were off yesterday, Aaron Sanchez starts tonight as they open a midweek series against the Yankees tonight.

OHL Bobby MacIntyre scored the game winner with 23 seconds left in regulation as Sault Ste. Marie beat Erie 3-2, Otters still lead series 2-1. Justin scored scored the OT winner, his 13th goal of the post season, as Barrie edged North Bay 3-2 to take a 2-0 series lead.

London forward Mitchell Marner was named the OHL Player of the Week. The Toronto Maple Leads first rounder scored two goals and added five assists in a pair of games.

Former OHLer Jordan Shine passed away suddenly in Toronto Sunday. The Wallacetown native spent four years in the OHL with Belleville, Barrie and London. He also played Junior C in Wallaceburg and Dresden. He was found unresponsive in the residence of a friend in Toronto, he was just 27. (full story HERE)

NHL The Arizona Coyotes have fired general manager Don Maloney after they missed the playoffs for the fourth straight season. The team said an interim general manager wouldn't be named at this time, and that the search for a new GM will begin immediately. Maloney spent the past nine seasons as executive vice-president and GM.

Philadelphia Flyers founder Ed Snider is dead after a two-year battle with cancer. Snider's Flyers became the first expansion team to win the Stanley Cup in 1974. He was 83.

NBA The Cleveland Cavaliers have wrapped up the number one seed in the NBA's Eastern Conference playoffs following a 109-94 win over Atlanta. Russell Westbrook had a triple-double by halftime to help the Thunder beat the Los Angeles Lakers 112-79 in the final road game of Kobe Bryant's 20-year career. Toronto, who sits second in the East, hosts Philadelphia tonight, Detroit plays Miami.
