Sarnia Beats Oshawa To Extend Streak

Three second period goals help lead Sarnia to a 4-1 win in front of 4,229 fans at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre Friday night.

Sam Studnicka scored his first goal as a Sting to open the scoring just 29 seconds into the game, Travis Konecny and Pavel Zacha picked up assists on the early goal. Oshawa would tie the game nine minutes later with a power play marker.

Sarnia took control of the game in the second period, scoring three goals in a 1:57 minute span midway through the frame. Jakob Chychrun's sixth goal of the season gave the home team a 2-1 edge, followed by a Troy Lajeunesse tally just 42 seconds and Pavel Zacha's team leading 19th goal 1:15 after that. The three quick goals chased starting goalie Justin Nichols from the Oshawa net after allowed four goals on 16 shots. Jeremy Brodeur came into the game in relief and stopped all 16 shots he faced.

Zacha finished the game with a goal and two assists while Konecny had a pair of helpers as well. Charlie Graham made 30 saves in his home debut to record his second win since joining the Sting.

Sarnia now has points in ten straight games and improve their record to 21-11-5-1.

The Sting are on the road Saturday with a game in Hamilton, and round out the weekend Sunday in Oshawa for a rematch against the Generals.
