Sting Make One Final Trade

The Sarnia Sting have traded forward Hayden Hodgson to the Saginaw Spirit for centre Devon Paliani and four draft picks.

Originally drafted to Sudbury, Paliani has 12 goals over two seasons split between the Spirit and Wolves. The LaSalle native suited up for the GOJHL Vipers during the 2013-2014 season, scoring 54 points in 49 games.

The Sting also received Barrie’s 2nd round pick in 2019, Niagara third round pick in 2017, Kingston’s fourth round pick in 2016, and a conditional fourth round pick in 2018.

Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair says the trade benefits both hockey clubs.

“We feel that this is a deal that benefits all parties," says Sinclair. "We were able to recuperate some of the draft picks we parted with last week, and add an experienced player who will bring depth to our roster."

Sarnia picked up Hodgson in a trade from Erie January 10, 2016 for a third round draft pick.

The deal caps off what has been a busy 2016 for Sinclair as Sarnia acquired Travis Konecny, Sam Studnicka and goalie Charlie Graham in a pair of trades last week.

The OHL trade deadline was Monday at noon.

The Sting return to the SSEC this weekend as the Club plays host to the visiting Oshawa Generals on Friday night.
