Sarnia scored three goals late but couldn't complete the comeback in North Bay.
The two teams traded first period goals despite the Sting getting the bulk of the scoring chances. Nikita Korostelev scored his first of the season on the power play, with Alexandre Renaud and Jakub Chychrun adding the assists. Korostelev was great in the offensive zone and could have easily netted two or three.
A point shot from Riley Bruce found its way through Justin Fazio six minutes into the second period. Sarnia continued to get some great opportunities but where once again unable to take advantage.
Sarnia started the third period with a lengthy powerplay but it was the home team getting on the board, Zach Bratina scoring his first of two. Things slipped away for the Sting from there with North Bay scoring two more to increase their lead to 5-1.
Despite the four goal deficit, there was no quit from the Sarnia Sting.
Alex Black got the Sting within three with just under eight minutes to play. Patrick White and Anthony Salinitri scored just over a minute apart, and just like that it was a one goal game with 1:32 left.
The Sting continued to press late but couldn't find the equalizer, losing 5-4 to the Battalion.
