Sting draft pick Omeri signs OHL agreement

The Sarnia Sting have signed 2006-born defenseman Nathan Omeri to an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Standard Player Agreement.

The 5' 10'' Etobicoke native was selected by the Sting in the 8th round of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.

During his draft year, he tallied 10 goals and 15 assists through 47 games played with the North York Rangers U16 AAA team in addition to a goal and two assists in four games at the 2022 OHL Cup.

Omeri spent the 2022-23 season playing for the Hamilton Kilty B's in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL). He had nine goals and 25 assists through 50 appearances, and earned himself a selection on the Golden Horseshoe Conference All-Rookie Team and an invite to the GOJHL Future Stars Game.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca is pleased with how Omeri's game has progressed.

"Nathan had an excellent season in Junior B with Hamilton," said Seca. "We saw his offensive game take big strides and he rounded out his play away from the puck. Nathan shows confidence with the puck and is a player who had options outside of the OHL. This signing builds to our already strong '06 draft class. We would like to welcome Nathan and the Omeri family to Sarnia."

The Sting welcomed prospects to Sarnia this past weekend for the team's development camp.

Last month, the Sting drafted a total of 15 players in the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
