Smile Cookie campaign to support the Inn

It's the most delicious time of the year.

The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign launches on Monday, May 1.

Sarnia's Inn of the Good Shepherd has been selected as this year's charity recipient for the first time and executive director Myles Vanni is thrilled.

"There is an application process and we applied back in the fall and then we got the notice in probably about January or February that we had been selected as the recipient," said Vanni.

Vanni said 100 per cent of smile cookie proceeds are donated to local charities.

"It's a great thing that the Tim Hortons owners and customers do, because it has really supported so many great organizations in the community over the years," he added.

Funds raised will go towards the Inn's food bank and summer programs, like the mobile market, snack pack and back-to-school kits for children in the community.

"Everybody's in a pinch right now because of the cost of food, because of inflation," Vanni said. "So, it's harder to eat healthy. It's harder to save that money to buy those school supplies for your child or snacks because there's no school nutrition program in the summer. So, these funds will really go to help augment that and especially the higher numbers of people that we're seeing."

Orders can be placed on the Tim Hortons website or app.

"You can set it to which restaurant you want to pick them up at and order a box of cookies or two and take them into work and folks will love ya," he added.

In 2022, the 11 restaurants in Sarnia and Bright's Grove raised just over $53,000 for St. Joseph's Hospice.

Funds raised from the Petrolia location will be directed to the CEE Hospital Foundation and the Wyoming and Corunna locations are going to Lambton County Developmental Services.

The campaign runs until Sunday, May 7.
