Millions of air fryers recalled due to fire hazard

Cosori has recalled more than 2 million of its air fryers after hundreds of fire-related complaints were made, some of which involved minor property damage and superficial burns.

Health Canada and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a joint recall on Thursday.

The company said 252,828 affected units were sold in Canada, just over 2 million were sold in the U.S., and 21,490 were sold in Mexico.

"The wire connectors in the products can overheat, posing a potential burn and fire hazard," read the recall.

The company has received a total of 205 reports of affected products catching fire, burning, melting, overheating, and smoking. Fifty-six of the complaints made were in Canada.

"There have been 23 reports of minor property damage globally and 10 reports of minor, superficial burn injuries, including 4 reports in Canada," read the recall.

Model numbers of the affected units can be found on Health Canada's website.

The affected products were sold from March 2019 to December 2022.

Anyone with an affected product is advised to stop using it immediately and to contact Cosori for a replacement. The toll-free recall hotline is 1-888-216-5974, affected consumers can also register for a replacement online at www.recall.cosori.com.
