Trial delayed for 2019 bank robbery suspect

It will be nearly a year before a suspect in a 2019 Sarnia bank robbery will head to trial.

Mushin Aden appeared in Sarnia court on Friday, February 3 for charges stemming from the July 2019 robbery of the TD Canada Trust on London Road. He was given a trial date of January 22, 2024.

The Toronto native, who was 23 at the time of the incident, is charged with robbery using an imitation firearm, disguise with intent, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Aden's trial was delayed earlier this year after the accused indicated that he had fired his lawyer, marking the third time he let go of his counsel.

In the spring of 2020, co-accused Hassan Ali, also from the Toronto area, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.

The 2019 robbery resulted in the suspects being chased by police to London, where a mother and her then nine-year-old daughter were seriously injured when a cruiser crashed into the taxi cab they were riding in.
