More teams sought for 10th annual CANstruction

Several teams have already signed up but more are being sought to build structures at Lambton Mall that symbolize a favourite movie as part of the 10th annual CANstruction event.

CANstruction, in support of the Inn of the Good Shepherd, will be held from March 4 through to March 21.

Teams have until January 31 to register.

Fundraising Coordinator Kerry Strachan said 14 teams have registered so far, which is up from last year's 11.

"I would really like to see 18. We've had 18 in the past."

Teams can register by contacting Strachan at fundraising@theinnsarnia.ca or 519-344-1746 ext. 303.

Structures will be judged on March 5 and Strachan said there will be an opportunity for people to vote for their favourite designs.

This year's theme is movies.

"Any movie at all! We wanted to keep it open," said Strachan.

The ultimate goal of the annual competition is to raise money and non-perishable food items for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

Strachan said the goal this year is to raise about $10,000-$15,000 and bring in approximately 40,000 pounds of canned goods.

As the event will run during the March break, Strachan said kid's activities will also be set up at the mall to encourage people to check out the structures made out of cans.
