Local jobs highlighted through Lambton College career fair

It's welcome news for local job seekers.

Lambton College and the Sarnia Lambton Economic Partnership are hosting a career fair Wednesday afternoon.

College Job Developer Kyle Walker said over 50 employers from a variety of industries will be on hand.

He said there will be small and large companies, offering everything from full time, to part time, student and seasonal positions.

"For employers, it's an opportunity to promote their company and attract job seekers to their vacancies," said Walker. "For job seekers, it allows them to connect directly with a company representative that plays a role in hiring. This gives job seekers a competitive advantage when they're looking for work because they can stand out from that online competition and make a strong first impression."

Representatives from a variety of industries will be there, including food services, administration, agriculture, arts, finance, health care and manufacturing.

In conjunction with the career fair, an Exploring Careers in Long-Term Care event will also be taking place.

Job seekers can talk to employers and take part in information sessions highlighting various career opportunities in the long-term care sector.

Walker recommends attendees dress for success, and bring a stack of resumes, and a positive attitude. He said Lambton College enrollment advisors will be there to answer any questions.

Today's event is being held from noon until 4 p.m. at the Dante Club at 1330 London Road in Sarnia.
