Region braces for expected snowstorm

Several areas of southwestern Ontario are now under a snowfall warning as a winter storm is expected to begin Wednesday morning.

Environment Canada upgraded a special weather statement to a snowfall warning Tuesday afternoon, for areas such as Sarnia-Lambton, London-Middlesex, Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, Perth and southern Huron, Wellington, and Oxford and Elgin counties.

There is a winter weather travel advisory up for all of Bruce County and northern areas of Huron County.

The national weather agency said a Texas low is expected to bring about 15 centimetres of snowfall to the region.

The winter storm is expected to start early Wednesday morning until late Wednesday night, possibly into Thursday morning.

Drivers are advised to adjust their driving habits with changing road conditions and to prepare for deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
