Sting blanked by 67's, 2-0

The Sarnia Sting couldn't find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss in the nation's capital Sunday afternoon.

Ottawa 67's netminder Max Donoso made 30 saves and was named the game's first star, and forward Matthew Mayich scored the game-winning goal midway through the second period.

Sting goaltender Ben Gaudreau turned away 25 shots in his third straight start since returning from Team Canada's World Junior team. Gaudreau went 1-2 during Sarnia's weekend road-trip, allowing 11 goals on 83 shots.

It was the second time this season the Sting failed to record a goal. Sarnia was beat by Flint 10-0 back on November 26.

The Sting are 19-14-4-2 this season, good enough for fifth in the OHL's Western Conference.

The hockey club is back in action Friday night against the visiting Erie Otters. Coverage on CHOK (1070 AM/103.9 FM) begins at 6:30 p.m.
