Lambton College hosting alumni basketball game

Current and former members of Lambton College's men's basketball team will square off in an alumni game Friday night.

Head coach James Grant said tip-off is set for 8 p.m. from the school's gymnasium and that the public is welcome to attend.

"We got a full squad of 12 and we got some of the best that ever played here coming back. So coming out of COVID we haven't really been able to get everybody together too much but it's exciting to get the people back that are planning to come," said Grant. "The 90s guys are coming to watch, they say they're a little too old to play now, but we got some guys from the early 2000s."

The game is a part of the Lambton College Invitational, a weekend of exhibition games featuring the men's and women's teams from Lambton, Durham and Georgian. For the full schedule, click here.

Grant is optimistic the alumni game will be competitive.

"I'm hoping. I haven't seen some of these guys in a long time, so as long as they've been doing some running they might be able to keep with the younger guys, so we'll see. They got the skill, we'll see how they can get up and down the court on these young guys."

A few returning players include Mike Lucier, Jason Marshell, Anthony Smith, Jason Watts, Cole Webster and Chris Harrison.

Grant said it's the first time the alumni game has been included in the invitational.

"Now that we have this new gym and we have a lot of space we're just going to ramp it up a notch and let people come out and watch and revisit some of these guys that did a good job in their career here for Lambton, so it's pretty exciting."
