Traffic disruptions on Trudeau Dr. scheduled to allow for sewage bypass

Trudeau Drive in Sarnia will temporarily be reduced to one lane to enable the construction of a new sewer as part of the commissioning process of the new Indian Road Pumping Station.

The City of Sarnia said the work will require two temporary sewage bypasses on Trudeau Drive.

With each bypass, pumping equipment and a tanker truck will need to be parked on Trudeau Drive, adjacent to Sherwood Village Park.

Sewage will be loaded into trucks, hauled to Wellington Street, and dumped into a sanitary manhole along the Howard Watson Nature Trail.

Equipment will be set up on Trudeau Drive for the initial bypass on Tuesday, January 3 and the bypass itself will take place during the evening hours of Wednesday, January 4. The area is expected to be cleared shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday morning.

The Sarnia Transit route in the area isn't expected to be heavily impacted by the lane reduction.

The second bypass is expected to take place from January 16 to January 18. Lane reductions will be in place on both Trudeau Drive and Wellington Street.
