Celebration of Lights Bus Tour gets into gear after two years

Sarnia Transit will once again take residents on a tour of the city's most decorated areas, including the Celebration of Lights at Centennial Park, following a two-year pause.

Tours will be held on December 15 and December 16. There will be a total of 10 tours held each night, and each tour will last about 35 minutes.

Sarnia Transit Manager Michelle Carter said the tour is always a little different as the route depends on where decorated properties are.

"We get a list of homes that are entered into the Celebration of Lights from that organization and then we try to build a tour around them, including other areas of the city," said Carter. "We go out in the weeks leading up to it and we will note areas that we could possible cover in the tour."

Buses will depart from Lambton Mall, outside entrance four, every 15 minutes, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The final tour will leave the mall at 8:45 p.m.

Tickets are on sale for $3 each. Children who can sit on a parent’s lap will not need a ticket.

Carter said they expect to sell out as they have in previous years prior to the pandemic.

"That could be anywhere between 350 to 400 people we can accommodate," Carter said.

Residents can purchase tickets at the City Hall Customer Service Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, or by calling (519) 332-0330 ext. 3131.

Non-perishable food items will be collected during the tour for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

Tickets were sold out by December 15.
