Sting break three-game skid with 6-3 win over Spirit

The Sarnia Sting ended their three-game losing streak with a 6-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday.

The Sting trailed 1-0 after the first period, but were able to take control in the second to lead 4-1 at the intermission.

The Sting bounced back from Friday’s 6-5 shootout loss to the Oshawa Generals, who had only one win in the last 12 games.

Ty Voit scored a goal and two assists as the Sting ended the Spirit’s 10-game point streak.

Forward Sasha Pastujov scored two goals and helped set up two more.

Sandis Vilmanis, Angus MacDonell and Zach Filak also scored for the Sting.

The Sting play their annual teddy bear toss game against the Barrie Colts at 2 p.m. Sunday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

When the Sting score their first goal, thousands of stuffed animals will be thrown onto the ice in support of local charities, including the Salvation Army and Inn of the Good Shepherd.

To date over 75,000 stuffed toys have been collected and distributed to homes across our community
