Volunteers needed for Celebration of Lights set-up

Sarnia's Centennial Park will be transformed this weekend.

Displays for the annual Celebration of Lights will be erected and volunteers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. Saturday to assist in the set-up.

Board Chair Dean Holtz said they're hoping for about 100 people to show up at Centennial Park to help out, and it's a great opportunity for students to get their volunteer hours too.

"We have a lot of students that come out and that's great and we're happy to sign for their hours, we just ask that they bring the necessary paperwork that they need us to sign for them," said Holtz.

The Celebration of Lights Arch over Front Street was installed on Thursday.

Holtz said the arch and displays will be lit up on Saturday, November 26 as part of a large kick-off party.

"We really want to bring back what the community has been used to and has missed out on the last three years, and we have a great kickoff event that a lot of people see as the beginning of their Christmas season," he said. "So, we're going to have that event with a Christmas carol concert, Santa will be there, fireworks, horse and trolley rides and more, just a great family event."

The displays will be on every evening throughout the holiday season.
