OLG issues latest gaming revenue payments

Both the Village of Point Edward and the City of Sarnia continue to realize the benefits of hosting a provincial gaming facility.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued a second quarter (July 1 – September 30) payment of $455,597 to the village for hosting the Starlight Casino.

The latest payment puts Point Edward's total at $882,660 for this fiscal year which spans from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023.

Since the gaming site opened in April 2000, Point Edward has received $49,598,994.

Meanwhile, Sarnia's second quarter payment totals $111,727 for hosting Gateway Casinos.

So far, during OLG’s fiscal year, Sarnia has received $223,532. Since the gaming site opened in May 1999, Sarnia has received $27,035,184.

"Revenue from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreements supports host communities so they can invest in programs and services that benefit everyone, from neighbourhood parks to local festivals,” said Peter Bethlenfalvy, Minister of Finance. “These payments help to improve the quality of life and make Ontario a vibrant and exciting place to live, work and play."

Since 1994, host communities have received almost $1.9 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
