Active COVID-19 outbreaks down by one

There are nine active COVID-19 outbreaks in the community, which is down from 10 reported last week.

All of the outbreaks in Petrolia, Sarnia, and Watford are at retirement, long-term care, and congregate living settings. The latest outbreak was declared on October 8 at Lambton Meadowview Villa with fewer than five cases among residents and fewer than five cases among staff or visitors.

In its weekly update, Lambton Public Health reported 112 lab-confirmed cases, with an average of 18 cases per day.

There have been a total of 13,361 confirmed cases in the region.

The local death toll remains unchanged at 152.

Bluewater Health currently has nine COVID-positive patients in hospital. The website initially said there were six COVID patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) but the hospital later clarified an error on the website and said there are no COVID-positive patients in the ICU.

An outbreak at Bluewater Health's Inpatient Medicine Unit ended on Tuesday.
