Holiday cirque show swings into Sarnia

Performers with a Las Vegas company will soar to daring heights during a holiday show in Sarnia this winter.

"Holiday Dreams: A Spectacular Holiday Cirque Show" will take place at Progressive Auto Sales Arena on Friday, December 16.

The show will include acrobats, holograms, daredevils, and laser displays.

"It's about an elf who is looking to go on a journey back to the North Pole and stops in Sarnia," said Tourism Sarnia-Lambton (TSL) Executive Director Mark Perrin. "It's very fun and exciting! The whole show is part of a national tour going across Canada."

Perrin highlighted that Sarnia is the only southwestern Ontario stop for the holiday cirque show.

"We haven't had a show like this for over a decade in the sports and entertainment complex so it's definitely something we want to get into so we can attract more people from southwestern Ontario -- kind of competing against those Windsor and London markets."

TSL is also hoping to attract American neighbours to the show and check out local accommodations, shops, and restaurants. Perrin said he expects there to be some interest from across the border, especially considering how the U.S. dollar is doing and the drop of COVID-19 border measures.

"We're expecting to have a good turnout. Overall, for our area, I think when we look at numbers, the show has the potential to draw $300,000-$400,000 in economic impact just off this one show."

Perrin said it has been TSL's goal to attract these types of entertainment shows to the area and they hope to continue bringing in more.

Tickets are currently on sale. For adults, ticket prices cost $39.99 and up, while kids 12 and under are $27.99.
