Sarnia-Lambton recognized as a top location to invest

Major expansion projects and community growth have led to Sarnia-Lambton being included in a list of Canada's top 20 best locations for companies to invest.

The annual compilation was recently published by Site Selection Magazine, and it's the fifth straight year that our region has made the list.

Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) Senior Economic Development Officer Matthew Slotwinski said the magazine is a leading publication when it comes to those companies looking to make strategic investments.

"This is something that's going to be seen, not only by a national audience, but internationally as well," said Slotwinski. "The reality is that us as a community in Sarnia-Lambton, we are trying to drive foreign direct investment to the area. In many cases, it's tied to these large scale projects that have really been the highlight that has led to such a designation."

Slotwinski said some local highlights include investments in Origin Materials, announcements like the new Diageo distillery, and large expansion projects at Enbridge Gas and NOVA Chemicals.

"This is really an announcement that we'll be able to utilize to further market the community, and the potential for large-scale projects and job creation," he said. "It's certainly a highlight to be named alongside many of the other powerhouses in Ontario, municipalities like Hamilton and London where we've seen investments similar to what we see in Sarnia-Lambton."

Meanwhile, Ontario was recognized as the most competitive province in Canada based on cumulative and per-capita calculations from corporate facility projects.
